Industrial robot is a multi-joint manipulator or multi-degree-of-freedom machine device for the industrial field. It is mainly used to replace manual flexible production. It is a machine that realizes various functions by itself, power and control capabilities.

At present, industrial robots have a relatively complete industrial chain, which can be roughly divided into raw materials, core components, ontology manufacturing, system integration services and other links: Upstream raw materials: mainly including steel, cast iron, aluminum alloys and a small amount of plastic products and various electronic components components. Core components: including control systems, servo motors, precision reducers, and sensors. Industrial robot body manufacturing: design and implementation of robot structure and function. System integration: design and assembly of production lines according to customer needs.

Controllers, servo motors and reducers are the three core components that make up industrial robots. The performance and stability of the three core components largely determine the performance and stability of industrial robots. Due to the high technical barriers to the production of core components, most of the key technologies are monopolized by a few companies, which makes robot manufacturers have insufficient bargaining power when purchasing, and the purchase price is high. The controller is the "brain" of the industrial robot. The controller is responsible for issuing and transmitting action commands to the executive agency. It consists of two parts: hardware and software: the hardware is the industrial control board, including some main control units, signal processing parts and other circuits; the software is mainly control algorithms, secondary development, etc. The servo system is the "power source" of the industrial robot. The servo system is usually composed of a servo motor and a servo driver, which is mainly responsible for converting the received voltage signal into torque and rotational speed to drive the control object. The reducer is the "joint" of the industrial robot. The reducer is the link with the highest technical barriers among the core components, and it is also the component with the largest cost proportion in industrial robots. The reducer is divided into harmonic gear reducer, cycloidal pinwheel planetary reducer, RV reducer, precision, planetary reducer and filter gear reducer. Among them, industrial robots mainly use harmonic reducer and RV reducer.

Industrial robots can be classified according to mechanical structure, coordinate form and program input method. According to different coordinate forms, industrial robots can be divided into Cartesian coordinate type, cylindrical coordinate type, spherical coordinate type, multi-joint type and plane joint type. Among them, multi-joint type (six-axis industrial robot) and plane joint type (SCARA type robot) are the most common and are widely used in the automobile and 3C industries.
